UK Government Minister opens Renishaw regional training centre

UK Government Minister opens Renishaw Productivity CentreThe UK Minister for the South East, Jonathan Shaw MP (centre), opened the Renishaw Centre for Manufacturing Productivity at the University of Greenwich at Medway, Kent, on 22nd October.  The centre, a partnership between the university and engineering manufacturer Renishaw, will offer courses to businesses and develop teaching and research on manufacturing productivity, as well as giving local firms access to the latest technology.

New General Manager for Renishaw’s Swedish subsidiary

Bo Eneholm, New General Manager for Renishaw’s Swedish subsidiaryWorld leading technology company Renishaw has appointed a leading figure from the Swedish metrology industry to head up its Nordic operations. Bo Eneholm, aged 42, was until recently General Manager of Hexagon Metrology’s Nordic office, and as well as a deep knowledge of measurement technologies, has a strong background in sales of machine tools and tooling systems. He is also the current Chairman of the Swedish Industrial Metrology Forum (SIMET).

The need for speed - Renishaw at JIMTOF 2008

JIMTOF 2008Renishaw is focusing on speed of manufacture at JIMTOF 2008, with a range of new products that will help businesses to manufacture profitably, by reducing process times and minimising the cost of poor quality for a wide range of machining and measurement applications. The JIMTOF 2008 show takes place at the Tokyo Big Sight exhibition centre from 30th October to 4th November and Renishaw’s stand is located in West Hall 3, stand W3040.

Renscan5™ REVO™ measuring large bladeWorld leading metrology companies Renishaw, Metris, Mitutoyo and Wenzel, and CAD/CAM developer Delcam, are holding a series of free half-day UK seminars in Autumn 2008 covering Renishaw’s revolutionary Renscan5™ five-axis measurement technology, including the award-winning REVO™ measuring head.

Each of the events will cover the operation and applications for the new system, compatible software packages, its suitability as a retrofit option, but fundamentally the huge throughput benefits that the new technology can bring to users of co-ordinate measuring machines (CMMs).

Renishaw's Chairman honoured as a 'Master of Manufacturing'

Sir_David_McMurtry_master_of_manufacturingThe official magazine of the US Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) has granted its respected ‘Master of Manufacturing’ accolade to Sir David McMurtry, Chairman and Chief Executive of Renishaw plc, the first time that this recognition has been given to a non-US citizen. The special July 2008 issue of 'Manufacturing Engineering' features an extended interview with Sir David, who is only the seventh person to receive this honour which recognises 'an exemplary life and career in manufacturing'.

Renishaw is county's largest private-sector employer

New Mills

A manufacturing company with headquarters in Wotton-under-Edge has been recognised as the county’s largest business employer in the 2008 listing of Gloucestershire’s Top 100 Businesses. World leading measurement company Renishaw plc now employs over 1,400 people at its sites in Wotton, Woodchester and Stonehouse, and in the annual list produced by Gloucestershire Media was also positioned 11th by sales turnover, increasing worldwide sales to £180.9 million.

'Teacher-friendly' Renishaw offers education on modern manufacturing

Teachers viewing Renishaw's latest measurement technologies at the MACH 2008 exhibition

Gloucestershire-based manufacturer Renishaw plc is opening its doors to teachers and pupils as part of a scheme designed to develop working relationships between engineering companies and schools. Location of Renishaw (Taiwan) IncWorld leading measurement company Renishaw has opened a trading office in Taichung to support its strong growth in the Taiwanese market. The new subsidiary company, Renishaw (Taiwan) Inc, replaces the former representative office which was set-up in the year 2000, and will be able to offer enhanced commercial and technical support to customers throughout Taiwanese industry, whether machine builders, end-users, or existing distributors for Renishaw’s wide range of market leading metrology products.

Renishaw hosts senior politicians at MACH 2008

Ian Pearson visits Renishaw during MACH 2008Renishaw had a very busy time at the recent MACH 2008 trade show, the UK’s largest show for manufacturing industry, held at the NEC, Birmingham. As well as receiving almost 500 enquiries for its world-leading range of precision measurement equipment, the Gloucestershire-based engineering company also hosted two visits from leading Labour and Conservative politicians.

Renishaw wins two prestigious awards at leading international event

Renishaw wins 'Best quality control product or system' awardAt the prestigious MWP Awards Dinner held in Birmingham, UK, on 22nd April, Renishaw plc was honoured with two awards for product excellence. The awards, which are often referred to as the UK metalworking industry's 'Oscars', were achieved against strong competition, with entry open to any worldwide manufacturer with a UK representative. Winners were selected by a panel of eleven independent judges allied to manufacturing industry.

Pyramid - layers of controlThe nationwide shortage of skilled engineers has long been recognised as a constraint on UK industry.  The challenge posed by globalisation to UK manufacturers is to develop robust, automated, productive processes, which demand manufacturing engineering skills that are in increasingly short supply.  Renishaw is announcing a nationwide education initiative, which will be launched at the West Midlands Manufacturing Measurement Centre (WMMMC) based within Coventry University in Spring 2008.
