Renishaw's Business Systems Department is responsible for the installation and support of all Information Technology (I.T.) systems in the Renishaw Group.

We also have a Software Engineering Department which can provide software skills and resources to work on projects in any of the company's divisions at their request. In addition to software development, the department also offers in-house training (and consultancy) in system design methodologies (Yourdon and UML).

Software Testing and Quality Manager

Renishaw are currently seeking to recruit a Software Testing and Quality Manager to develop, manage and coordinate the various testing activities for the Productivity+ software suite.  These include the GUI testing that is performed in India, the applications testing of machine tools, and automated unit testing which is performed in-house. Productivity+ is a CAD based system for generating measurement and process control cycles on machine tools.

The key outputs and deliverables of the role include:

• Reviewing and optimising all testing documents and activities
• Ensuring continuous system test coverage from PC-side through to Machine tools
• Progressing and reviewing the testing specifications for new functionality with Applications and the ITT (Independent Test Team)
• Liaising with the ITT
• Moving the tests for new functionality into regression tests, and continuous improvement of regression test suites (alongside the ITT)
• Liaising with the project coordinator to ensure the correct allowance for testing needs
• Owning the "daily build" process for automated unit testing
• Reviewing and responding to “daily build” results
• Organising and chairing reviews

Qualifications and expertise:

All applicants are required to have the following:

• A degree in a software or relevant numerate discipline, of a 2:2 grade or above
• Expertise in writing and reviewing software test specifications

Although not essential, it is desirable if applicants have the following:

• Knowledge of C++
• Familiarity with machine tools

Person specification:

The successful applicant will be self-motivated and proactive, with an attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure.  The individual will have excellent time management skills, being able to meet deadlines, and effectively manage time for both themselves and others.  They will also possess good communication and negotiation skills.
