RGE interpolators

RGE InterpolatorsIn addition to the RPI20 parallel interface, RLE output resolution can be refined via the use of an RGE interpolator unit.

Three models of RGE, originally designed for use with Renishaw's range of tape scale encoders, have been validated for use with the RLE. These are RGE25, RGE50 and RGE00.

Plane mirror system performance

RGE model RGE part number Resolution (nm) Maximum velocity (mm/s)
RGE25 RGE25D01A61 1.582 10
RGE50 RGE50D01A61 0.790 8
RGE00 RGE00D01A61 0.395 4

Retroreflector system performance

RGE model RGE part number Resolution (nm) Maximum velocity (mm/s)
RGE25 RGE25D01A61 3.164 20
RGE50 RGE50D01A61 1.582 17
RGE00 RGE00D01A61 0.791 8

Maximum system velocities quoted include a 25% safety margin.
Velocity figures are based on 75% signal strength with a 75 mV DC offset in sine and cosine.

Please note the RGE and REE data sheets referenced above are produced by Renishaw's optical encoder division, and hence do not contain specification data for their use with an RLE system, however they do contain operating and electrical specification data, as well as dimensional information.

RGE interpolators are being replaced by REE models. For further information on these changes, please contact your local Renishaw office.
